Larry Nibbi Joins Crew Raising Funds for St. Anthony’s Dining Room
Larry Nibbi, CEO, (top row, third from the left) shares the cover of the February Nob Hill Gazette with other philanthropic luminaries who are staging a fundraising event for the new St. Anthony Foundation Dining Room at 121 Golden Gate Ave.
The event, “Show Tunes and Philanthropy in the Penthouse,” will take place on Feb. 19 in the Fairmont Hotel’s penthouse suite to raise money for construction of the new building–a $22.5 million, 10-story, concrete high-rise that will house the free-dining room, as well as 90 units of much-needed affordable senior housing.
The St. Anthony Dining Room, an icon of the city, provides more than 3,000 free meals a day. Event Chair Marilyn Cabak says, “the reason I love St. Anthony’s is because it’s the one place in San
Francisco that is open every day of the year, no matter what your station in life–homeless, down-and-out, or maybe just going through a hard time–it doesn’t matter. You can go to St. Anthony’s and get a hot meal anytime. The new dining room will allow us to feed many more people.”
In addition to the new dining room and senior housing, the building will also house the largest free clothing program in San Francisco, a social work center designed to help people move out of poverty, and the infrastructure to serve as a relief center in the event of a human or natural disaster.
Nibbi Brothers General Contractors is constructing the building, which will be complete in March. The company also built the St. Anthony Social Services Building at 150 Golden Gate.
