Preserving San Francisco History

In November, ENR recognized Pier 70 at the 2018 Regional Best Projects Awards program. Pier 70 won “Best Project, Interiors/Tenant Improvement” and “Northern California Project of the Year 2018”.

The owner, Orton Development, transformed the decaying building into a fresh new space all while preserving the history of the over 200-year-old structures. Nibbi was contracted by Orton and completed all seismic upgrades and most of the restoration. Because of the delicate nature of Uber’s technology, electrical and other upgrades were contracted directly through them.

Nibbi is here for Community

Over the last couple months, Nibbi staff took time to support Leap Arts in Education at the Sandcastle Classic at Ocean Beach, City of Hope’s Bike to Hope and some programs at St. Anthony Foundation in San Francisco. Each event was different but staff agree that the common thread for these distinct events was community. At this year’s Sandcastle Classic, Nibbi teamed with Sherwood Designers, EHDD Architecture and some creative 4th graders from the Chinese Immersion School at De Avila. Our team was made up of over 100 people and together we designed and built the “Intergalactic Octopus”. This event ...

Building a New Future in Alice Griffith

On November 2nd, people gathered to celebrate the opening of the life-changing housing development for the residents and families of the Candlestick Point Neighborhood. The Alice Griffith redevelopment is more than just a construction project, it offers residents access to job training programs and afterschool programs to ensure kids have a safe place to study and have fun. HOPE SF, a funding source from the San Francisco Mayor’s Office, is a large contributor to the redevelopment training programs. Beginning in 2015, Nibbi and Baines Group, Inc. (BGI) began construction on Blocks 1, 2 & 4. Nibbi/BGI worked with McCormack Baron ...

City of Hope has Nibbi spinning its wheels – in a good way

Once again, Nibbi sponsored a team of cyclists and volunteers for the annual “Bike to Hope” fundraiser for City of Hope. This year’s event raised over $150,000 to support the lifesaving treatment and compassionate care City of Hope provides to those suffering from cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. The cycling event, normally held in October, had to be postponed due to last year’s devastating North Bay fires. The event was presented on March 9 by SB Architects & Hudson Pacific Properties. Afterwards, the Nibbi team relaxed at Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma to enjoy the sunny spring day and recharge ...

New homes for veterans to be named after former Mayor Ed Lee

Anyone who had the pleasure of working closely with Mayor Ed Lee knew of his dedication to getting veterans off the street and into homes. So it was a proud moment when we learned that new Mission Bay housing for veterans and low income families would bear Mayor Lee’s name. Acting Mayor Mark Farrell made the announcement at the March 1 groundbreaking ceremony for Block 3 East, a development that will house 62 formerly homeless veterans, and 56 low-income families. Nibbi is working closely with Chinatown Community Development Center, Swords to Plowshares and Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects to complete construction of the ...
