Shelter Network—First Step for Families
Project Summary
The Shelter Network is a non-profit organization and San Mateo County’s primary provider of housing and services for homeless children and adults. It serves more than 2,000 homeless children, parents, and single adults, and provides over 120,000 nights of shelter every year. The existing building, an old DMV office, was demolished and the new state of the art facility now allows Shelter Network to serve twice as many families in the area. The main building has ground floor administrative offices, a licensed childcare, community rooms and a computer center. The 2nd and 3rd floors each have 12 studio apartments and six bathrooms with the bathrooms linking two units. The transitional housing building has three floors of fifteen 1-unit bedrooms.
