Lady Shaw Senior Housing is an innovative project that was built over the entrance to the Broadway Tunnel in San Francisco. Due to this, maintaining continuous traffic flow was crucial during the construction of the concrete piers, grade beams and shotcrete walls at the road level. The new steel-frame structure was built on top of a concrete platform above the tunnel. It is seven stories and holds 70 units of senior housing. Nibbi Brothers’ aggressive scheduling approach allowed the job to be completed three months ahead of schedule providing yet another solution for the high demand of affordable housing in San Francisco.
