Grand Opening for Madison @ 14th Apartments

Affordable Housing Associates (AHA) held a grand opening for the Madison @ 14th Apartments on June 26.  Located in downtown Oakland, the project is an 8-story concrete building with 79 units of affordable family housing and ground floor commercial space.

There are 16 studios, 36 1-bedroom, 21 2-bedroom and 6 3-bedroom apartments. 20 of the units are set aside for youth aging out of foster care with supportive services provided by First Place Fund for Youth, a non-profit that aids youth transitioning out of the foster care system.

Photovoltaic Panels were installed on the roof and it's expected they will generate enough energy to power the common areas and laundry facilities.  The 54 parking spaces are on the ground floor.  A car-stacking system was installed to provide more space for commercial and common areas.  There is a second floor outdoor area adjacent to the community room and administrative offices.
