Nibbi Brothers provided pre-construction and value engineering services for this 55-unit affordable housing project in Berkeley.

The project is a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments and will be affordable to households with incomes below 60% of the area median. The lot area is 23,200 SF and the residential area is approximately 44,000 SF. The project will have a one-level concrete podium with four stories of wood-frame housing above. There are four wood-frame buildings on top of the podium. The ground floor will have parking, commercial space, community rooms and a common laundry facility. Photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of Ashby Lofts. This will greatly reduce energy costs both for the tenants and for building operations.
