About Nibbi

Continuing to Work Smart

As a recognized CAL/OSHA VPP-C member, Nibbi Brothers is firmly committed to maintaining the safest possible jobsite for our employees, subcontractors, clients and the community. At Nibbi, safety is more than a priority; it is truly one of our most tightly held core values. As such, we constantly strive to improve awareness and accident prevention through integration of safety into our work and through programs aimed at staff training and pre-planning efforts. A safe project is a successful project and cleaner and more efficient worksites help ensure the project is completed on-time and on-budget, not to mention with lower labor and insurance costs.

Nibbi’s mission is to foster and advance a culture that believes that an Injury Free Workplace is not only possible but achievable. Our motto is “L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) is Good” and we truly try to live by this. This mission and motto calls for the elimination of unsafe behaviors, conditions and actions and requires active participation from everyone to achieve. There are four keys to this accomplishment:

  • A Collaborative and Integrative approach to safety involving the Client, Nibbi, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors etc.
  • Demonstrative and Supportive Leadership in safety by all members of the construction team.
  • Ownership and Commitment to the success of this project by all team members.
  • Accountability for one’s actions, through constant measurement, deliverables, feedback and effective interventions when actions do not support or fall short of goals.

Missions and goals are vital, however results are key. In the end it is all about keeping people safe and returning them home to their loved ones after a hard days work in the same shape or better than when they started. As such we can never rest on our laurels but it is satisfying to know that our success as a company has created some tangible results in so many others’ lives. To this end, and as confirmation of our efforts, Nibbi has had the fortune of the following results:

  • Nibbi’s current Experience Modification Rating is 0.8. A rate of 1.00 is the rate used for a contractor with average safety performance and anything below that number is considered above average.
  • Nibbi’s Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Day Care Rate (LDCR) and Days Away Restricted or Transfer Rate (DART) were all zero in 2010. This translates to no serious injuries for an entire calendar year – all done while maintaining our typical volume and number of workhours.
  • Nibbi has completed over 1,000,000 self-performed workhours from 2008-2011 with only one minor recordable incident and during this time had consecutive runs of 670 and 425 days without a single recordable or lost time injury.
  • In 2009 Nibbi was accepted into CAL OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program, a select group wherein only a handful of General Contractors in the State of California have successfully passed the rigorous process of certification.
  • Nibbi Brothers has received the ‘President’s Award’ for safety, two years running, from the Construction Employers Association (CEA) in recognition of ‘best in class’ performance for health and safety, as well as CEA’s ‘Excellence in Safety’ Award for the last seven years, given to those firms that maintain a high standard of health and safety in their work environments.

We look forward to continued successes and ways to improve. If past successes were any guarantee of future performance then L.I.F.E. truly is Good!
